Hi and welcome to my blog. I’d like to share a little about me. My name is Becky Marie, I am a mom of three adults in their 20s, a wife, and animal lover. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, exploring hobbies, and working on my little homestead. With my children now being adults I have been learning how to focus on me. My weight journey, spiritual journey, new hobbies, volunteering at my local shelter, and exploring adventures. Knowing I am not the only one going through these changing of seasons in life my goal is to build community and encourage each other.
Being married with two young ones with another on the way before I was 20 my adult life has been joyfully focused around being mom. While I am still mom now I have time, when I am not working my full time job, to myself. Wow, this change has been good, but change is still change, not always fun. Now I am finding new hobbies, adventures, and ways to connect with these wonderful adults that I have had the pleasure and honor to watch grow.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis several years ago. About 10 years I had a friend in my church small group share that she had been using Trim Healthy Mama. Intrigued, I bought the plan book and a couple of cook books, enthusiastic to the change the way I ate. I did not follow through with the changes though and went back to eating my “normal” American diet. Born in the 80s and raised in the 90s this meant chips, fast food, quick snacks, and questionable “health” foods. This year hitting 41 I decided enough is enough.
My family and I are doing a weight challenge amongst ourselves. Some of us needing to gain and some needing to lose, but it’s more than a weight challenge, it is an encouragement to get healthy! I began this challenge eating whole foods only and beginning an hour of exercise daily. I was making progress, but SNAIL pace. Plus, I was constantly hungry due to trying to stay within my calorie budget. My husband sent me a social media video where this guy was talking about “fueling” with alternating foods. Then it hit me: I have seen this before! I went to my bookcase and dusted off those old THM books and here we go!
